Originally the Zeeheks was varnished with conventional varnish and anti fouling but in order to do a proper restoration job and to make the ship more maintainance friendly the decision was made to use modern epoxy coatings and glue. (Re)bonding all the wooden parts with epoxy give a stronger structure to the ship and make it 100% watertight. After a few layers of special priming epoxy (eposeal) the same epoxy is used as clear coating for the hull  and cabin.

Above the waterline a 2 component varnish with UV filter will be used to protect the epoxy coatings against the sun. Under the waterline an extra layer of glass roofing will be added to to epoxy to give better protection against damages and to garante watertightness.

Used epoxies and filler materials
